“Reframing Family Memories” is a photographic installation that delves into the profound complexities of memory, identity, and self-discovery. As photographs have played a pivotal role in shaping knowledge and identity for over a century, this project embarks on a journey to explore the evolving relationship we have with the creation, materialization and preservation of memories and personal photographs in our digital age. It is by honoring a disappearing image culture, and by reactivating the poetic power of the material print with the cyanotype that this project and its materials traces of communication about the past allows us to remember, forget, narrate, share, connect and discover.
By “re-imag(in)ing” and reframing the past, present, and future, these photographs at the intersection of photography, painting and printing techniques, transcend traditional boundaries, inviting viewers to engage with their memories in a fluid and transformative manner. This immersive experience, where more than ever past, present, and future coexist, serves not as an escape, but as a space for introspection and reconnection with one's deeper self. Through fluidity and movement, “Reframing Family Memories” offers a poignant moment to reflect, dismantle, and reconstruct our connection to familial heritage, ultimately fostering a sense of wholeness and freedom in the exploration of personal narrative.
